One of the most important transitions for every Divorced Dad
is the Mens Fashion & Grooming Makeover. This month, we give our advice on
stylish jackets to wear for the upcoming cold weather season.

Style and Grooming:
Go From Boring to GQ With the Right Jacket

Hi my name is Jackson.
I live in Riverside, am 39 years old and have a 5-year old son who
already has a flair for fashion.
The other day my son looked at me and said, "Dad that jacket is
boring." I looked at my jacket and
realized he was right. I’ve been
wearing the same "boring" jacket for years and I think it’s time for a
change. But I don’t know what type
of jacket to get. Since I live in
sunny southern California there is no need for a winter parka but it does
sometimes get a little cold. Can
you help me find a jacket that is stylish but doesn’t make look like I’m about
ready to go on an Alaskan vacation?

Signed Boring Jacket Boy

Dear Boring Jacket Boy,

So your 5-year old son had to put you in check when it comes
to fashion huh? Well, at least he
was being honest with you which will work out to your benefit. You’re right about not needing a
parka. But southern California
weather can be misleading. It can
go from warm to cold in a matter of an hour and if you are caught off guard
without a jacket, it can be downright miserable.

Here are some ideas of jackets that are not only stylish but
will do the trick to keep you warm.

Vest

Vest

Sometimes you don’t need a whole jacket but a mini version
of one. Vests are great at keeping
you warm but not making you boil.
What I love the most about vests is their versatility. You can wear them alone on those chilly
autumn evenings or you can wear them under your suit or jacket for extra warmth
in the throes of winter.

Leather jacket with scarf

Leather Jacket

A leather jacket is a must have in your wardrobe. Dress it up or dress it down, you can
get a lot of mileage out of a leather jacket. To add a little extra warmth and oomph, pair it with a
scarf.

Jean Jacket with hoodie

hoodie

This jacket will show the ladies that you aren’t afraid to
express your boyish charm and that you are interested in style instead of just
a plain ole "boring" jacket.

Bomber Jacket

The Classic Bomber

Since the early 1900s, bomber jackets have been around. Usually made of sheepskin leather and a
soft wool liner on the inside, they can provide plenty of warmth whether you
are in sub-zero temperatures or just out and about in wind or rain. Extremely durable, this jacket
will last for years.

So you see you don’t have to walk around looking "boring" in
your jacket and you don’t have to look like you are going to the North Pole
either. Add any one or heck why
not two of these jackets to your wardrobe and in no time your son will be
praising you for your GQ looks.
