The SingleDad website has an inspiring motto – “Make Life Happen…Again”. This tagline is perfect to explain the goals and aspirations behind those who are committed to being great single dads. The inspiration behind those of you who are doing your part to be a good role model, great parent, and excellent citizen is often times unspoken, though not unseen. The job of a single parent is a tough road to walk, but very rewarding. Striving to make our children well educated, both in subjects of school and in life lessons is essential to their character. “Make Life Happen…Again” can be applied to many of these life lessons, a major one being environmental awareness.

Children today are hearing about recycling as early as preschool in their daily lessons. They learn the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle symbols and that their soda bottles go in a different bin than their tissues. Their education in the importance of being kind to the earth should not end there. Our children will have a huge impact on our environment—good or bad. So it is important to instill the reasoning behind reusing products, and doing our part to reduce the carbon footprint that we leave behind. This is a value that children can be taught at home, working as a family to learn how to do our part.

The efforts to increase awareness are everywhere. You’ll find commercials for hybrids and green cleaning products when flipping through the channels, billboards for events on “going green” and solar energy. Large companies are making the effort to cut down on pollution and educating their employees on doing their part. Large companies are catching on, but each person can do their part at home. Making different piles for recycled products, switching off the lights, and purchasing organic, earth friendly products instills recycling and “healing the earth” as second nature in a little ones mind.

In essence, we teach children the exact motto of SingleDad.com, in that by recycling and doing our part to help heal the earth, we are making life happen again for so many different products that would otherwise add to our countries landfills.
