My Pre Work-Out Smoothie

As a father in his mid-forty’s I got to watch what I eat. As
I get older I realize the importance of having a high protein diet, especially
in my morning meals. I am the kind of
guy that doesn’t want to "fill-up" before my morning work-outs, but I still
want the necessary nutrition to get me through my 45-minutes of intense cardio
-core programs.

Lately, I have been trying a variety of smoothies before
heading into the gym. I have been experimenting with different fruits, waters
and bases to see which combination works best for me. As a Dad Fitness Blogger, I think it is
important to share my journey toward better health and fitness and I believe
the journey begins at breakfast. There is nothing worse for me than feeling
light headed during a workout, so to avoid that, I have started making a pre-
work out smoothie to keep my energy high and my stomach full.

This month, I tried a new flavor combination; I like to call
it " Mint Berry Almond Aloe". It gives me just the right amount of energy I
need before I head to the gym in the morning.
Give it a try!

Mint-Berry Almond Aloe Smoothie

Recipe / Ingredients:

2 Scoops of Whey Protein

6 oz. of Silk Almond Milk, Vanilla

3-5 Strawberries

3-5 Spearmint Leaves

2 oz. of Aloe Gloe Water

Couple Ice Cubes and Mix

Aloe Water?

I know, it sounds weird but the Aloe plant is made of 99%
water and it have recently been showing up on shelves in the supermarket. I
decided to make the Aloe Gloe Water part of my liquid base for my smoothie and
I combine it with my already popular, Silk Almond Milk ( Vanilla Flavored).

Quick Facts on Aloe
Water:

Aloe Vera contains many vitamins including A, C, E, folic
acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), B6. Aloe Vera is also one of the few plants
that contains vitamin B12. Some of the 20 minerals found in Aloe Vera include: calcium,
magnesium, zinc, chromium, selenium, sodium, iron, potassium, copper,
manganese. With these added benefits and a great taste, I think I will
keep this Smoothie Recipe around for a while.
